By Riley Hebert Oct 16, 2026 | 11:00 AM

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction published state general school aids that school districts will receive during the current school year.

By law, the DPI is required to release certified aid figures by Oct. 15 annually. This certification replaces the aid estimate released on July 1. The state’s general school aid appropriation for 2026-27 remains at $5.58 billion for the third consecutive year.

Prior to this biennium, the last time the general aid appropriation did not increase was 2017-18. General school aids, calculated using prior year student counts and financial data, are the largest form of state support for PK-12 schools in Wisconsin. This funding is distributed among Wisconsin school districts through the equalization aid formula.

Aid amounts for local and neighboring school districts include:

  • $10,020,003 for Abbotsford,
  • $6,784,566 for Auburndale,
  • $4,094,955 for Augusta,
  • $13,972,676 for Black River Falls,
  • $7,053,100 to Cadott,
  • $9,984,679 for Colby,
  • $2,332,221 for Granton,
  • $2,480,023 for Greenwood,
  • $4,794,636 for Loyal,
  • $30,586,161 for Marshfield,
  • $16,857,516 for Medford,
  • $6,136,027 for Neillsville,
  • $6,560,747 for Osseo-Fairchild,
  • $3,632,163 for Owen-Withee,
  • $3,197,651 for Pittsville,
  • $6,342,700 for Spencer,
  • $8,617,526 for Stanley-Boyd,
  • $6,876,079 for Stratford,
  • $3,992,330 for Thorp,
  • $25,228,138 for Tomah,
  • And $44,269,713 for Wisconsin Rapids.

The information published includes certified general aid amounts for each school district, as well as 2026-27 student enrollment numbers for independent charter schools and private schools participating in the Private School Choice Programs (PSCP) and the Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP).

The PSCP, SNSP, and independent charter school programs are funded based on current year data. Enrollment numbers for these programs are used to determine the dollar amounts to be withheld from school districts’ aid payments to fund the programs.
