A Vesper man was arrested for child enticement.
On Tuesday, July 21st, 58-year-old Michael Peckham was taken into custody by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department for child enticement in the City of Marshfield. At the time of Peckham’s arrest, a search warrant was conducted in the Village of Vesper at Peckham’s residence where several electronic devices were recovered.
These devices will be searched by the Wood County Investigative Team over the next several days or weeks. Peckham has been previously convicted for possessing child pornography in 2012, which was a joint investigation conducted by the City of Marshfield Police Department and retired Wood County Sheriff’s Investigator Sgt Dean Berres.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Investigative Team is continuing the investigation into Peckham and anticipates additional charges to be forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office. The charge against Peckham is the result of an investigation conducted by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, including Sgt. Dan Berres who is leading the investigation.
Also assisting the investigative team with the search warrant was the Wood County Sheriff’s Patrol Division. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is committed to investigating crimes against children. Please contact the Wood County Sheriff’s Department or local police department if you or others you know are being victimized through sexual assault or other abuse.
