(Reporter Alisa Schafer, Manitowoc Herald Times) A Central Wisconsin man was arrested and charged with multiple felonies after police investigated an incident in which they suspected a Two Rivers child was being groomed for sexual activity through online contact.
According to Alisa Schafer with the Manitowoc Herald Times, the man, identified as 33-year-old Nathan D. Brase, of Medford, was arrested earlier in June and had an initial appearance June 29 in Manitowoc County Circuit Court. He is in custody at the Manitowoc County Jail on a $25,000 bail.
He is expected to appear in court July 7 for another bail hearing, during which his attorney, Nathan Heim, is expected to ask for a bail reduction. His case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Angelina Scarpelli and is being presided over by Judge Anthony Lambrecht.
Brase is charged with exposing genitals, exposing a child to harmful descriptions, grooming a child for sexual activity, soliciting an intimate representation from a minor, and misdemeanor intimidation of a victim. If convicted of all charges, Brase could face up to 20 1/2 years of imprisonment.
According to the press release June 29 from the Two Rivers Police Department, an investigation into Brase’s activities was started when they received a tip that he was allegedly communicating with a minor from Two Rivers.
An arrest warrant was issued for Brase and executed with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and the Medford Police Department at Brase’s residence.
He was taken into custody at the Taylor County Jail before being extradited to the Manitowoc County Jail. Investigators from the Two Rivers Police Department believe there may be additional victims who have not yet been identified.
Anyone who believes they may have information related to this investigation or who may have had contact with Brase under similar circumstances is encouraged to contact detectives Megan Klumpyan or Jake Glaser at the Two Rivers Police Department at 920-793-1191.
