Richard N. Hess, age 93, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 29, 2024 at St. Alexander’s Catholic Church in Port Edwards, WI. Rev. John Swing will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, as well as on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM at St. Alexander’s Catholic Church. Burial rites will take place at the village of Port Edwards Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for a memorial to be set up at a later date.
Richard was born on January 13, 1931 in Syracuse, New York to the late Norbert and Clara (Nauer) Hess. He married Jeanine Violette on December 18, 1954 in Syracuse, New York. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage together before her passing in 2019. Richard was a member of the United States Army from 1954 until 1956. He worked as a manager and superintendent for various paper companies in Maine, Pennsylvania, New York, and Wisconsin until his retirement from Georgia Pacific in 1991. Richard was a member of the TAPPI coating committee for many years. He was a member of St. Alexanders Catholic Church and served as a reader for mass. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed skiing, camping, swimming, and spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his five children Nina (Ken) Pelo of Port Edwards, Leslie (Steve) Kozicki of Rudolph, Susan Hess of Evansville, Richard (Erin) Hess of Port Edwards and Scott (Rena) Hess of Wisconsin Rapids; 14 grandchildren Denise (Chad) De Meyer, Kim Tornow, Dane (Ashley) Kozicki, Drew (Nicole) Kozicki, Sarah Wilson, Alex Wilson, Kristin Hess (Isaiah Sonnenfeld), Erik Hess (Leah Walker), Ashley (Mikee) Conlon, Ian Hess, Ethan Hess, Alexis (Nate) Ferkey, Jennyfer (Travis) Primeau and Tyler Sedall; eight great-grandchildren Kiley, Hailey, Truman, Arthur, Logan, Hunter, Lucas, and Eli
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine; parents; and sister, Jane Osborne.
Richard’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Hilltop Grand Village and Compassus Hospice for their kindness and care of Richard and the entire family.
