A recall election for the office of District 7 alderperson in the City of Wisconsin Rapids has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
The election follows the filing and certification of a recall petition against District 7 Alderperson Michael Timm. The City Clerk issued a Certificate of Sufficiency for the recall petition on September 18, and the City Council ordered the recall election on September 23.
Candidate Filing Deadline
Individuals interested in running for District 7 alderperson must file all required paperwork with the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Candidates may begin circulating nomination papers immediately.
Required filings include:
- Campaign Registration Statement
- Declaration of Candidacy
- Nomination papers
The filing deadline applies to all required candidate paperwork. The individual elected will serve the remainder of the District 7 alderperson term, which expires April 19, 2027.
A description of the District 7 boundaries is available from the City Clerk or on the city’s website. The recall election will take place at the City Hall Council Chambers, 444 W. Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids.
The recall petition was filed in response to an email allegedly sent by Alderperson Timm warning managers at the Hotel Mead Resorts and Conference Center that selling “No Data Center” signs could hurt their business, according to reporting by the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune.
The Tribune reported the message warned the hotel it was “alienating A LOT of people” and pointed to another local business that had recently closed after selling similar signs.
