The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield has officially surpassed its $7.6 million capital campaign goal to bring the community’s first permanent, stand-alone Boys & Girls Club Center to life.

This milestone reflects a powerful, community-wide investment in the future of Marshfield’s youth and families. The success of the campaign was driven by extraordinary leadership support and broad community participation.

Legacy Partners Everett and Delores Roehl, Tom and Bonnie Umhoefer, and Jon and Annette Vandehey provided a transformational foundation with a combined commitment of $4 million.

That early leadership helped catalyze additional support from Transformational Partners Dennis and Roberta DeVetter, as well as Visionary Partners including the Weber Charitable Foundation, Staab Construction, and Nelson-Jameson Corporation.

Together with many additional donors, these early commitments helped build lasting momentum and inspired a true community-wide effort to reach the campaign goal.

A defining moment in the campaign was the announcement of a $2 million matching opportunity, which significantly accelerated fundraising during the public phase.

By doubling the impact of new and increased gifts, the match inspired individuals, families, and businesses across Marshfield to step forward. The result was a true community-wide effort, with support from donors at every level.

“The success of this campaign speaks volumes about the Marshfield community and the value people place on investing in young people. We are incredibly grateful for every individual, business, and community partner who helped make this vision a reality.”

“While reaching this goal is a tremendous milestone, it is truly just the beginning. We are excited to continue building a strong foundation that ensures local youth in Marshfield have a place where they feel safe, supported, and empowered to build great futures for generations to come,” said Danielle Belsky, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County.

The future Boys & Girls Club center will transform the former JCPenney building into a 30,000-square-foot facility designed to serve up to 300 youth each day. Located near Madison Elementary and Marshfield High School, the new site will provide a centrally accessible, purpose-built space for year-round programming and help eliminate transportation barriers for families.

Planning efforts are already moving forward, with groundbreaking anticipated in October. The organization aims to open the facility for operations in summer 2027, significantly expanding access to out-of-school programming and creating a consistent, welcoming environment for youth across the Marshfield area.

While the campaign goal has been reached, opportunities to give remain available. Additional contributions will be directed toward an operating reserve fund to support the long-term maintenance and day-to-day operations of the facility once it opens.

These funds will help ensure the building can be fully staffed, properly maintained, and sustainably operated for years to come. Continued community support will help the Club remain accessible, affordable, and well-resourced as it serves a growing number of youth.

As the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield looks ahead to construction and opening, the organization would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to every donor, volunteer, business, foundation, and community member who helped make this milestone possible.

Together, their generosity is creating new opportunities for local youth and strengthening the Marshfield community for generations to come.
