The City of Wisconsin Rapids has begun the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan, a long-range planning document that is used to guide the city’s future development, growth, investments, programs, and public policy.
To kick-off the plan update, the city is hosting an open house visioning event, where residents, business owners, and community stakeholders are invited to participate in interactive discussion regarding the plan.
The event will be an opportunity to learn more about the Comprehensive Plan, review the current plan, and provide input on community values, challenges, and opportunities. Feedback from the event will be used to develop the shared vision to guide the plan. Snacks and refreshments will be available.
LOCATION: McMillan Memorial Library, 1st Floor All-Purpose Room
DATE: Tuesday, July 14, 2026
TIME: 5:00 – 7:00 PM
Those who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to visit the Comprehensive Plan webpage on the city’s website for further details and to stay informed of other opportunities to participate.
Visitors to the webpage will also find the recently posted Comprehensive Plan Visioning Survey. The webpage will host several online surveys over the course of the plan update process.
The first phase of updating the plan involves public engagement and publicizing. Public input is a vital part of the planning process and crucial to the formulation of a shared vision and direction that will guide the goals, recommendations, and strategies within the plan.
The plan will be structured around the required elements for Comprehensive Plans, which include planning for land use, housing, transportation, utilities and community facilities, natural resources, economic development, intergovernmental cooperation, implementation, issues and opportunities.
