Kyle: “So, we have a bunch of new things coming into the summer season. Our Wild Wednesday celebrations have started. Those are where we have guest speakers come to our Wildwood Station. I know just yesterday River Valley Raptors came and they were able to fly one of their raptors around the room, so it’s a lot of fun for all ages. It’s really cool. And each week, there’ll be something new. You can find our Wild Wednesday schedule on our website at City of Marshfield Parks and Rec.”

“Our education talks have actually begun now, coming into the month of June, so we have a full schedule of animal talks and animal encounters that happen throughout the day in the zoo, so you can definitely get a closer look and learn a little bit more about some of your favorite animals here at Wildwood.”

“Additionally, we have some new ambassador animals that are coming out that’ll be new this season. You’ll just have to come right down to the zoo to figure out who they are, but they’re really excited to meet everybody and they’re young and we’re always looking for ways to get people closer to wildlife, so we’re very excited for that.”

“Just this last week, unfortunately, we had our female skunk, Violet, escape. We still hold out hope and we’re still trapping. We’re hopeful that she can make her return, but if she plans to stay wild, we wish her the best. You know how it is.”

“But if you guys are down at Wildwood Park, and you see a skunk, Violet is totally descented and up to date on her rabies and distemper shot. So, you’re going to want to just drop a line to my office cell that you can find on the website or give a Marshfield Parks and give Marshfield a PD a call and they will get you to the right person to be able to report a skunk sighting, but we’re still having a lot of fun down here.”

“It’s kind of remarkable where Violet was able to get out. It was a tiny hole, really. Nobody thought that she’d be able to and the skunk mating season, you know, she’s two years old. This is the first mating season that’s really mattered to her.”

“So, I think she’s got a boyfriend out in the weeds somewhere, but who knows, she might always come back, so we’re really hopeful and we really appreciate our community understanding and stepping up for us in this search, so thanks to that.”

“Wildwood Zoo summer hours are from 7am to 7:30pm, so definitely a full day to be able to come down to the zoo, and that’s Monday through Sunday.”
