The Marathon County Sheriff presented Deputy Christopher Brandner, Deputy Richard Magray and Deputy Aaron Galindo with awards for their actions this past winter at a disturbance call in the Town of Rib Mountain.

Deputies were initially dispatched to a report of a disturbance at a residence where a man had armed himself with a gun and was not allowing two women to leave the home. A woman inside the home had been communicating with our 911 center during the incident. As deputies negotiated with the man to put the gun down, the 911 dispatch center updated these deputies of a possible medical emergency inside the home. The woman who had been on 911 had become unresponsive, had labored breathing and was gurgling. Deputies were able to quickly gain compliance from the male subject and made entry into the home. While doing so, the second woman made her way outside the home to where another deputy was waiting. Deputy Brandner and Deputy Galindo made entry into the home and found the unresponsive woman. They immediately began to administer doses of Narcan which weren’t immediately effective, the woman stopped breathing. Deputy Galindo began CPR on the female while Deputy Brandner continued to administer Narcan. Through their efforts the female regained consciousness and was transferred to the paramedics on scene.

While Deputy Brandner and Galindo were assisting the first woman, Deputy Magray encountered the second woman who exited the home and collapsed in a snowbank outside the residence. This woman was also unresponsive. Deputy Magray and the paramedics delivered doses of Narcan but ran out of their supply. Fortunately, Deputy Brandner had an additional dose and was able to provide it to Deputy Magray who administered the dose, resulting in the woman regaining consciousness. In recognition of their ability to quickly stabilize a very chaotic scene and provide critical medical care, resulting in the preservation of the lives of the two women, Deputy Brandner, Deputy Magray and Deputy Galindo were presented with Life Saving Awards.
