(Mayra Parrilla Guerrero, WSAW) Andres Aguirre came to Central Wisconsin in 2008 with his family.
According to Mayra Parrilla Guerrero with WSAW, there, he worked his way up in the restaurant business. Having gained this experience, the Mexico native decided to open his own spot, at the Marshfield Mall, serving the dishes of his country with a new concept.
“As a taqueria, we specialize in street tacos. This is going to be a little smaller, a different system. It’s just a little faster pace and it’s just a system that we have tried out and it works,” Aguirre said. On Tuesday, Aguirre and his family will conduct the official opening of Taqueria Monarca, a place with all sorts of Mexican dishes.
Though they specialize in tacos, the restaurant will sell classics such as quesadillas, tamales and burritos. Drinks of all kinds, including alcohol and a salsa bar will also be available for customers. Aguirre, who is originally from Jalisco, Mexico, said he has been preparing for this moment for months.
The grand opening is scheduled to be at 4:30 p.m. and for those wanting to try, this week may just be the perfect time to do so. “We will be doing half-priced margaritas. Also followed by Wednesday, our taqueria special,” he said. “We do a taco specials on Wednesdays and we also have a weekly special throughout the week.”
The taqueria is at 503 E Ives street and it is open every day from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
