Personal Development Center-Marshfield (PDC Orenda Center) is holding their Annual Kick Out Domestic Abuse Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 16th.
The event will be held from 10am-6pm at Yellowstone Park in Hewitt. I spoke with Tanya Johnson, the Director of Operations at PDC, and she discussed the event in more detail.
Once again, Kick Out Domestic Abuse Family Fun Day is being held on Saturday, May 16th from 10am-6pm at Yellowstone Park in Hewitt.

Tanya: “So, we do have our kickball tournament. So, we are looking for teams of six to ten people, any ages, can join. And a kickball team costs $100 to sign up. We’ve got two fields out there so we can have a couple games, one at a time.”
“We will also have a cornhole tournament, that is teams of two, and that’s $20 per team to sign up. We’re going to have lots of boards out there so we can have that tournament going all day. We also have a petting zoo that we have coming, I believe, for the whole day.”
“And then we’ll have the raffle baskets. We have tons of raffle baskets out there and we just sell raffle tickets. And then the baskets will be set out all day for everyone to see. And we do draw there. You don’t have to be present to win. We will have some bouncy houses for the kids. There’s going to be some face painting and we also have food trucks going to be there.”
Riley: “And now, if people are interested in being a part of either the kick ball tournament or the corn hole tournament, how do they get involved with that? They have to register, correct?”
Tanya: “Yeah, they can either call Personal Development Center in Marshfield or we do have a registration link on our website and they can go right on and just sign their team up and pay right online.”
Riley: “And then what is the location of the event and the time frame for it?”
Tanya: “So, it’s Saturday, May 16, and we’re having it from 10am until about 6pm; it could work a little later, depending on the tournaments and how long those go. It will be at the Yellowstone park out in Hewitt, and the address is 7653 Yellowstone Drive.”
Riley: “Anything else?”
Tanya: “Just letting everyone know that Personal Development Center is a domestic abuse and sexual assault crisis center and we have an emergency shelter. We are located in Marshfield, and we’ve been in business for over 50 years.”
“We do serve all of Wood County as well as all of Clark County. We have lots of different programmings. We even go into all of the schools and do education prevention, as well as all kinds of sexual assault and domestic abuse awareness.”
“All of our services are completely free and so it’s just a great way to spread awareness for the agency and bring all the family out and they can, you know, little ones can be playing on the bouncy houses and at the petting zoo.”
Hewitt Park has an amazing fun little area for the kids to play as well everything other than, you know, signing up for the cornhole tournament and kickball tournament, the raffle baskets and stuff. The petting zoo is free, so everybody can come out and kind of just have a fun day and just spread awareness for for personal development center and all the services that we offer.”
