(WAOW & Mike Leischner, WSAU) A competency evaluation is now ordered for the man charged in connection with a stolen ambulance chase through Wood County this week.

According to WAOW and Mike Leischner with WSAU, court records show Benjamin Feltz, 37, appeared in court Friday by video conference. A judge found probable cause, then ordered the evaluation.

Feltz is accused of leading police on a 40-minute chase from Wisconsin Rapids to Pittsville with a patient inside the ambulance. He faces felony charges, including recklessly endangering safety, threatening harm to someone involved with the legal system, taking a vehicle without consent, and fleeing an officer.

Feltz also faces several misdemeanor charges for OWI, disorderly conduct, obstructing an emergency response, and lewd behavior. The latter stemmed from the fact that he was naked during the incident.

He is being held in the Wood County Jail on a $100,000 bond. No further court action was immediately set.
