(WAOW) -St. John Lutheran Church and School has accepted an offer from the Wausau School District to purchase Hewitt-Texas Elementary School.

According to WAOW, this move is set to enhance educational opportunities for students and staff. “We are so excited to be able to offer our current and future students and staff the opportunity to learn how God loves and cares for us in this new school setting,” said Diane Goetsch, principal of St. John Lutheran Church and School.

Despite some details still pending, St. John Lutheran School will start transitioning from its current location on County Road Z to the new site on Granite Road, which is about 3.5 miles north. “St. John Lutheran Church and School is committed to providing a quality, faith-based education to not only the members of St. John Lutheran Church, but to the surrounding community and the greater Wausau area,” Goetsch said.

Rev. John Stransky, pastor at St. John’s, expressed gratitude for the collective effort that made this transition possible. “Thank you to the joint effort of so many individuals, we are moving forward,” said Stransky.

“St. John has been providing elementary instruction for over 100 years, and we are so blessed to be able to take this next step forward to continue and enhance our school offering.” St. John Lutheran Church, founded in 1887, began its educational mission in the early 1900s and has been housed in its current school building since 1925.
