It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mark Douglas Pelzer, age 68, of Marshfield, Wisconsin.
Mark passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 14th, 1956, in Iowa City, Iowa to Max O. Pelzer, and Bonnie M. (Krueger) Pelzer. He graduated from Estherville High School in Estherville, Iowa in 1974. Following his graduation, he served in the United States Navy from 1976-1980. While stationed in Japan, Mark met his wife, Noriko Shimo. They were united in marriage on September 14th, 1979, at the US Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. He always said it was the best birthday present he ever had.
Mark was a hard-working, traditional family man who continuously dedicated his life to his wife, three daughters, and grandkids. The most important thing to him was to teach them life lessons. He would always offer to help his family and friends however he could. He loved to fix things, whether it be with tools for a car or saying a comforting word of advice with a big hug. He enjoyed fishing on his boat, hunting, and spending time with his family. Mark had a powerful presence that made a deep impact on the many people he met throughout his life. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife Noriko of 45 years, his daughters Julie (Jason Kuck), Christie (Ben Daniel), and Mindy (Jeff Kneifl), and his grandchildren Alex Kuck, Oliver and Emma Daniel, and Hunter Kneifl. He is further survived by his father Max O. Pelzer and siblings Scott (Karen) Pelzer, Sherry (Tom) Fuhrman, and Todd (Kristine) Pelzer, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Pelzer.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Marshfield Medical Center for the exceptional care, dignity, and compassion you showed Mark and our family. Your dedication made a difficult time more bearable, and we are forever grateful.
A private celebration is currently being planned.
