By Riley Hebert Jul 24, 2025 | 11:00 AM

The Marshfield Area United Way is holding their Supplies 4 Success backpack, school supply, and hygiene supply drive.

The drive is going on now and runs through August 3rd. I spoke with Ashley Winch, Executive Director of the Marshfield United Way, and she discussed the drive in more detail.

Once again, the drive runs through August 3rd and supplies can be dropped off at several locations. You can find more information on their website. (https://www.marshfieldareaunitedway.org/supplies-4-success)

(AI assisted transcription of the interview by Otter.ai):

Ashley: “Every year we have a community wide backpack and school supply drive for area children, just making sure that they get a really strong start to the school year. So, we’re collecting all your basic school supplies, backpacks, we started doing a few hygiene items for the kids; and then we get those distributed to our children in the Marshfield area and then seven other surrounding school districts in our area.”

Riley: “There are different drop off locations for the items, correct?”

Ashley: “Yes. So, we have several businesses and organizations that allow people to just drop off their donations right at their location. So, definitely you can drop them off at our office, several of our community banks, Target is one of our public drop off locations, our Chamber of Commerce. We do have all this information available either on our social media outlets and our website as well.”

Riley: “People can sponsor a child as well. Can you touch on that?”

Ashley: “Yes. So, if it’s easier for someone to maybe hop online and do a secure donation to sponsor a child, we have different levels you can sponsor. So, we have a sponsorship for a hygiene kit for $25, we have the sponsor a backpack full of supplies for $50, or if you would like to sponsor a child for both, then a $75 donation would cover that.”

Riley: “If people want to learn more, where can they go to do so?”

Ashley: “So, a couple good places. You can find more information about our backpack and school supply drive are our website at marshfieldareaunitedway.org or our Facebook page, which is also Marshfield area United Way.”
