The Dairyland Balloon Jubliee is being held on July 11th & 12th at Seehafer Farms in Marshfield.
I spoke with Nancy Woller and she discussed the event in more detail.
Again, the event is being held on July 11th & 12th at Seehafer Farms and you can learn more by heading to their website (https://dairylandballoonjubilee.com/) or Facebook. (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100069329582635)
(AI assisted transcription of the interview by Otter.ai):
Nancy: “Well, we were looking for the perfect place to bring a whole bunch of balloons and celebrate the farming industry and dairy in particular. And Seehafer Farms is just that place. He planted some beautiful grass there and it’s just a blank slate for making room for about 40 balloons, hot air balloons, and they’ll be doing some flights.”
“And then we’ll have some live music and a kids craft hunt and we have some giant inflatables for taking a picture in front of and we’ll have a walk in balloon. Then we’re going to have two tethered balloons that will give people a little taste of what it’s like to go ballooning by going up about 50 or 100 feet.”
“There’s just a lot of activity that will be going on in a short amount of time. And then the highlight is the musical glow. We’ll be having very lively music, and the balloons will light up to the beat of the music, and hopefully everyone’s tapping their toes or dancing on the field, because it’s pretty high energy, and just a beautiful spectacle between the flights and the glows. It’s just beautiful.”
Riley: “And now is there cost to attend this event, correct?”
Nancy: “It’s $5 a person and then the little ones under five will be free. There’ll be lots of activities for the kids. There’ll be some inflatable bouncy houses and bungee jump where they can go nuts on a trampoline, safely of course, but lots of things, and we’ll have some little bouncy cows for the kids and just lots of fun. It’s a real family event.”
Riley: “And one of the organizations that involved, that is involved with this, of course, is a we love ballooning, which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Can you talk about that a little
bit?”
Nancy: “Well, obviously the name almost says it all! Ballooning, right? We formed a 501(c)3 nonprofit because we’re all volunteers and we just want to give back to the communities that we bring these balloons to.”
“So, you’ll see a lot of nonprofits on the field, like a couple veterans groups, Camp Victory and the American Legion Post, as well as Shirley’s House of Hope and Ronald McDonald House. We want them all to come to educate about the value of service.”
“And then, you know what these people do to make a difference in their community. It’s really important that we all appreciate that and we embrace it. We even pay our volunteers $15 an hour for their time.”
“We give it to the nonprofit of their choice. So, I have several nonprofits working to help fund their own nonprofit. So, it’s just, it’s just a feel good event, and they’ll be fantastic memories made that whole weekend.”
Riley: “And now if people would like to learn more about the event, where are some good places for them to go to do that?”
Nancy: “Well, our website is dairylandballoonsjubilee.com or you can follow us on Facebook with the same name. We always put updates on balloons and what’s going on and we’ll be updating on the weather, on that particular format, so that everyone knows it’s a go and what all will be going on.”
