Forte Opening Solutions is committed to providing transparent updates following the fire that occurred at its Marshfield particleboard facility on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
At Forte, the safety of our employees and the surrounding community is our top priority. Fires are an anticipated risk in industrial settings like ours, and we proactively plan and prepare for such events with robust rescue measures and emergency response protocols.
The fire was swiftly contained to the dry chip bin and baghouse area, and no Forte employees were injured. Emergency response teams arrived promptly, ensuring safety and containment. There was one explosion, not multiple, and the building did not sustain structural impact.
The financial impact of the incident remains under assessment, with reports suggesting $75,000 in damages being unconfirmed and speculative at this time. This incident follows an earlier event on March 28, 2025, which took place in a different part of the facility.
In that case, Forte proactively engaged emergency services. Contrary to some reports, it was not part of a series of incidents within two weeks. No Forte employees were injured. One firefighter sustained heat-related injuries and is expected to recover fully.
Emergency protocols ensured rapid, coordinated containment. Only pressing operations were temporarily suspended; all other areas remained fully operational. Press operations resumed on May 15. Strong inventory levels ensure no disruption to customer orders.
Sunday’s fire remains under investigation. The March 28 and May 11 incidents involved separate equipment and are not connected. A full inspection is in progress, with pressing operations resuming only when safety is assured.
Preventive measures will be implemented based on investigation findings. Forte Opening Solutions remains unwavering in its commitment to transparency, safety, and reliability. We deeply appreciate the swift and dedicated response of the Marshfield Fire Department and will continue to prioritize the safety of our employees, community, and partners as we move forward.
