Congratulations to Wausau Officer Dennis Peterson on receiving the ‘Respect for Law Award’ from the Wausau Noon Optimist Club.

Officer Peterson received this recognition at a recent ceremony. He was joined by Deputy Mielke from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and Trooper Langer from the Wisconsin State Patrol. A season K9-assisted officer, Officer Peterson is a well-deserving recipient of this award. His work to curb the influx of dangerous drugs in the community creates a safer Wausau for everyone.

Officer Peterson is a 10-year veteran of the department and he came to Wausau PD after working several years as a probation agent. All of this experience brings effectiveness, practical wisdom, and leadership to his work each day.

These qualities are especially beneficial in his role as a Field Training Officer and a union steward. The Department is proud that Officer Peterson was recognized with this award. It reflects his commitment to the law enforcement profession and to serving Wausau with distinction.
