Marathon County Sheriff’s Deputy Receives Award From Wausau’s Noon Optimist Club

Deputy Matthew Mielke was awarded both the Wausau Noon Optimist Club’s Respect for Law Award and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Year.

These are honors that reflect his outstanding service, dedication, and leadership. Deputy Mielke began his career with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office in 2013 as a Corrections Officer. Through hard work and commitment, he rose to the rank of Corporal before transitioning to the Patrol Division.

Today, he serves the Village of Rib Mountain as a patrol deputy. Beyond his patrol duties, Deputy Mielke is deeply involved in specialized operations and staff development. He is a valued member of the Dive Team, Field Training Unit, Mobile Field Force, and Forensic Mapping Team.

Over the years, he has trained countless deputies in emergency vehicle operations and numerous other critical law enforcement topics, shaping the future of the agency. These awards are a testament to Deputy Mielke’s professionalism, work ethic, and dedication to public safety.

The Department is proud to have him as part of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office. Congratulations, Deputy Mielke. The Department says he exemplifies what it means to serve with excellence and have certainly earned this much deserved recognition.
