(Mike Leischner, WSAU) The third and final Wausau-area teen charged in the beating of Donald Mitchell Jr was sentenced for reckless homicide on Friday.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Brandon Boehm will spend 13 years in prison with another seven on supervised release after he pled no contest to second-degree reckless homicide in February.

He has also been ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family besides a letter of apology, which will be delivered through a third party. The 21-year-old had been facing up to 31 years in prison. He was given credit for 200 days already served in jail. Boehm is the last of the three defendants to receive his sentencing.

Arlin Sangster was found guilty at trial and began a 20-year prison sentence in December for first-degree reckless homicide. Christian Emerson reached a plea deal for reckless homicide in February and is serving ten years in prison.

Officers say the group was rummaging through Mitchell’s truck to steal valuable items. When Mitchell confronted them, they beat him. The 71-year-old was rushed to a local hospital and then airlifted to Wausau, where he died from his injuries the next day.

Doctors said he had multiple fractured ribs, and nearly every bone in his face was broken. The incident happened in the spring of 2024. Initially, a fourth man was sought as a person of interest in the case. They were questioned and cleared of wrongdoing.
