
The Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department responded to a silo fire at a business on Friday.
According to a report from the Department, on Friday, March 28th, around 5:35pm, they were dispatched to Forte Opening Solutions, 1401 East 4th Street for smoke and smoldering material. Engine 3, Engine 1, Truck 1 and Ambulance 98 responded with nine personnel.
Upon arrival employees had evacuated and maintenance personnel stated that a bearing overheated causing their manufacturing material to start on fire on top of a silo. Crews accessed the silo with the aerial device from Truck 1.
Access was made to the silo and an auger where numerous hotspots were located. Water from Truck 1 and the facilities deluge system was used to extinguish the hotspots and prevent further extension.
Personnel were on scene for approximately 1.25 hours and there were no injuries. Damage from the fire was contained to materials used in the facilities manufacturing process.
