Mistaken Identity Causing Headaches for Neighboring Humane Society

By Riley Hebert Nov 20, 2024 | 10:00 AM

A case of mistaken identity is causing headaches for the Clark County Humane Society.

Recently an animal shelter, the Clarke (spelled with an ‘e’) County Animal Shelter in Grove Hill, Alabama, has stated they are going to have to start euthanizing animals due to lack of space. Because of this, the Clark (with no ‘e’) County Humane Society just south of Neillsville is being bombarded with negative comments on their Facebook page.

The Clark County Humane Society posted on their Facebook page, “IT’S NOT US!!!! We are getting absolutely blasted for a Facebook post from another Shelter about euthanizing animals. That post is from the Clarke County Animal Shelter in Grove Hill, Alabama (CCAS). We do NOT euthanize animals!!”

“Please note that we are the Clark County Humane Society (CCHS) in Neillsville, Wisconsin. We have no idea what’s going on in Alabama but we know for sure that nobody’s being euthanized at CCHS today.”

They continued, “We are a very proud No-Kill Humane Society and work hard to find new homes for all of our available animals. Please share this post to spread the word. Our spirits are uplifted by all of the wonderful comments from people who care about us and the work we do here. Thank you all for that! We greatly appreciate your help in getting this confusion clarified.”

This is an important reminder to everyone to do your research before sharing or posting false information.
