Nancy B. Klahn, age 78, of Nekoosa, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at The Waterford Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Port Edwards United Methodist Church with a luncheon to follow. Pastor Caleb McGregor will officiate. Visitation will be at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17 and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
Nancy was born October 5, 1945 in Oak Park, IL to Frank, Jr. and Lorraine (Koenneker) Houda. She attended Woodstock Community High School, Woodstock, IL; graduating in 1963. Nancy attended Purdue University, graduating in the first class of nursing in 1965. She continued her education: Northern Illinois University, School of Nursing, receiving her Masters of Maternal and Child Nursing on August 16, 1982; Planned Parenthood Association of Wisconsin becoming a nurse practitioner in 1983; and University of Wisconsin – Stout, Industrial and Vocational Education in 1997.
She married Gerald Klahn on September 6, 2003 at Lake Sherwood Lodge.
A talented Nursing Instructor, she devoted her career to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals at the Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, from where she retired December 25, 2007. She was a passionate educator, renowned for her ability to inspire her students and share her love of nursing. Outside of her professional life, Nancy was a life member of the Central Wisconsin Uniserv Council and Purdue Alumni Association. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant spirit and zest for life. She enjoyed playing Sudoku, Nintendo and computer games, and traveling, often taking cruises with her beloved husband, Gerald. The couple cherished their winters in Texas and Clearwater, Florida, where they delighted in walks along the seashore, marveling at the sight of dolphins, sting rays, and their favorite, the manatees.
She is survived by her loving husband Gerald; son Tim (Katie) Muhl; grandchildren Alex and Rachel Muhl.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Sherry Muhl; brother Frank Houda III.
The family would like to thank the staff at North Star Adult Services and The Waterford for all of the kind and compassionate care they provided Nancy.
