(Chris Conley, WSAU and WAOW) One person is seriously injured after a wrong-way crash on I-39 in Kronenwetter on Tuesday.
According to Chris Conley with WSAU and WAOW, an officer with the Kronenwetter Police Department attempted a traffic stop near Maple Ridge Road and I-39 at 7:23pm.
The vehicle did not stop, and the officer pursued him. The vehicle traveled in the wrong direction, going south on the northbound off-ramp on I-39. It hit a semi head-on.
The driver was sent to an area hospital with serious injuries. The semi-driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt.
The officer involved is on administrative leave per policy. The Wisconsin Department of Justice will lead the investigation.
