The honor of pallbearer belongs to: Larry Pribbernow, Justin Verkilen, Rob McEathron, Dan Jonas, Denny Rollins, Brent Richardson, Jim Katz, and Jim Schneider.

Bill was born on April 3, 1949, in Marshfield, the son of the late Gerald and Virginia (Glasby) Hebert. He grew up in the Spencer area and graduated from Spencer High School with The Class of 1967. Following graduation, he continued his education at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, where he attended for two years.

On August 16, 1969, Bill married the love of his life, Mary Yost, in Spencer. Together, they built a life centered on family, commitment, and the many experiences they shared throughout their years together. Their marriage spanned 57 years, creating a lifetime of memories and a lasting bond that remained at the heart of Bill’s life.

In 1970, Bill answered the call to serve his country when he enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served honorably until his discharge in 1971, carrying the pride of his military service with him throughout his life. He was especially honored to participate in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight of Wisconsin, an experience that recognized the sacrifices of veterans and celebrated their service to our country.

Bill began working for Land O’ Lakes in Spencer in February 1972. Through nearly four decades of dedication and hard work, he became a familiar and respected part of the workplace, remaining with the company for 39 years before retiring in April 2011. His retirement gave him more time to enjoy the hobbies, outdoor adventures, and family traditions that brought him happiness.

A proud member of the Spencer Lions Club, Bill valued his connection to the community and the friendships he formed along the way. He was also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, a passion that extended well beyond watching the games. His enthusiasm for the team was so great that he even decorated a Christmas tree dedicated to Packers memorabilia, bringing a little green and gold spirit into the holiday season.

Bill had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time pontooning on Lake Holcombe. Some of his most treasured memories were made at the family cabin in the North Woods, where time spent together offered opportunities to relax, share stories, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Those moments with family became lasting memories that will continue to be cherished for years to come.

He also enjoyed exploring his creative side. Whether he was woodworking and making signs, taking photographs, bowling, or painting, Bill appreciated having projects to work on and new things to create. His artistic talents were especially evident in the pictures he painted, including two horse portraits and one of dogs. Each project reflected his willingness to try something different and his enjoyment of turning his interests into something tangible.

Of course, Bill also enjoyed a little excitement. He loved taking his toys out for a spin, especially his yellow Can-Am side-by-side, snowmobile, and four-wheeler. Whether enjoying the thrill of a ride or taking in the scenery along the way, he knew how to make the most of his time outdoors. And when the day’s adventures were done, he could often be found enjoying a Jim Beam and Coke with friends, sharing conversation, laughter, and good company.

Above all, Bill treasured the people in his life. His family, friendships, military service, and many interests shaped a life filled with meaningful experiences. Though he will be deeply missed, the stories, traditions, and memories he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort to those who loved him.

Those who will cherish Bill’s memory include his wife of 57 years, Mary Hebert; his sons, Todd Hebert and Tim Hebert; his sisters, Deb Ramsdell and Barb Hebert; and his brother, Dick (Marge) Hebert, along with many other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Virginia Hebert, and his sister, Charlotte Jonas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s name may be directed to Badger Honor Flight, PO Box 258066, Madison, WI 53725, in recognition of his pride in serving his country and his appreciation for the honor given to fellow veterans.
